What is Essay？

Essay 名词解释：

是话题作文和论文的统称。Essay 的写作相对 Report 要简单一些。
在国外，人们把话题作文和论文统称 Essay。Essay 可以看做是说明文，也可以是议论文。

总体来说就是引用别的事物来证明某个观点。

Essay 一般级别在几千字，可以只有文献综述与对文献的批判分析，可以没有数据与实证，也可以结合文献和数据。

Essay 结构框架：

第一部分： Introduction

包括：general statements and thesis statement

第二部分： Body Paragraph

包括：
Paragraph A：

topic sentence—

1 support and detail（or examples）—

2 support and detail（or examples）—

3 support and detail（or examples）—

concluding sentence

Paragraph B：结构同A

Paragraph C：结构同A
（paragraph数量至少一个，但大学论文在三个或三个以上为好。）
第三部分：Conclusion paragraph 

包括： restament or summary of the main points；final comment
